Wedding Bliss or Wedding Blues...?

Have been on this topic for a while...cuz too many frens getting married this year...there always seems to be someone preparing for ROM or wedding in the group(s) of frens tt i go out wif... *if it's not on the actual topic of weddings, then it's about whether to apply for the balloting exercise for flats...*

Wedding preps defer for different people...some prefer simple, some go to all lengths to make sure that everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, is perfect!

i have a girlfriend who's an extreme! Cuz her future husband (FH, as refered to in bridal forums) is always overseas on work assignments, she took on the whole preps alone... tt's quite a feat, mind u! and she's not the kind who will settle for juz anything...!!! She took about 1 whole year to plan for the event, rite from the time her FH proposed...*the proposal was rather romantic, i feel...and was on her bday, not tt i tot the day is suitable...it was the process*

Proposal in June, rite after tt, she went off to buy herself 3 thick bridal mags...and got online to those bridal forums for all the info she needed! She's ultra-organised in her planning...first bridal package, then venue, then they looked for a flat, heng heng got walk-in, but tt meant she oso hv to coordinate the renovation on top of her wedding preps...of cuz her FH helped when he was in town, else his ears cfm reached the floor liao! haha... She researched online and offline for ALL the things she had to planned, i always wondered how she managed to keep the energy level high, cuz i know i will get sian of it all after awhile...no stamina in such long-term planning... :þ Anywayz, she did lotsa spreadsheets for comparison of bridal packages, hotel packages, and wat have u.... *FYI, all these planning info are oredi booked by her various frens, including yours truly... :þ*

i super admire her energy...and she's still going on...now is the final stages oredi. She had to get everything perfect...including earrings...small things but she actually went to search high and low... thankfully her good fren, ME, got her the perfect pair with the help of my dear. haha... tink he wld be happy that his effort is complimented in my blog! :þ

As for the amount of time required, tink i wld give up halfway... I mean it's been like 10 months of preps.....aren't it too much?!?!?!? for me, i hope it wld be shorter....so probs it's going to be a simpler one? i dunno... but thr's no way i can take up such a big project alone...!!

Then there are some who last min EVERYTHING... haha... or had the help of many relatives, these are the lucky ones... they themselves din have to make too much effort, but EVERYTHING falls into place...I wish i cld be like one of these people... but tough, cuz i dun have many helpful relatives... haha.... guess i cld engage the services of my good fren mentioned above?

For me, i tink friends would help more for me in terms of wedding preps...

Before the big day, thr's oso the bridal shower/hen's nite.... recently had some probs organising one... cuz there were many differences in views of wat it's supposed to be... had one before in June last year...din turn out tt well cuz that frens felt left out cuz she was dressed up differently from us...??!?!? i mean...it's YOUR special day for gdness sake, if u r not dressed differently on tt day? which day is going to be more appropriate leh? haha... anywayz, in the end, she got her way, i hope she was happy wif our efforts la....

Ok, back to the current one, it's supposed to be a hotel stay, with dinner and chionging session after that. the jie meis have differing views on wat is FUN? expectations must be set, as i mentioned to them... else too crazy, ppl might tink it's TOO much...or it might be too mild...then no impact... even the venue needs to be pondered upon. Cuz of our age, if we visit clubs wif a younger crowd, seems like we SO old...but if we go those clubs wif exec crowd, then scare not as fun... is quite a dilemma... asked the bride-to-be (BTB) but she says she's ok wif most things... I told her i wanna buy her wings to wear for whole nite...she was horrified! :þ haha...but tt's a way to make her v special wat... u tink everyday u can wear wings to clubs and still get away wif it? ;)

I dunno what i wan as yet... but remain optimistic... I tink marriage is a beautiful union... wedding vows always make my eyes red...
