Last weekend...
It was a very exciting weekend indeed. And I am writing about it now cuz I juz managed to find time, not that it's not worth writing! haha...
I wrote that I lost my hp last wk...at the wee hours of thu... dropped on a cab when coming home after some drinks. :( never been so careless all my life! Called the cab company to help look for it too. Was never returned to the lost and found.
So I was quite unhappy over the next few days after that...although bf has already said he will pay for the new phone. Din feel good cuz I never lose things that easily. Never lost important items, such as hp or wallet before...
Over those few days, I was also researching on the phone that I might want to get, just in case I really dun get my phone back. While researching, I came across this feature called mobile tracker on Samsung phones. AND I remembered that I had activated this feature when I just bought the phone. Out of curosity. haha.. But again, I was unsure whether I de-activated it subsequently...
This feature is quite amazing! I can set a msg, preset the phone to send a message to a few numbers that u pre-determined, when an unauthorised SIM card is inserted into my phone. The sms will be sent using the unauthorised user's SIM card but the user will not know about it! amazing rite?
Although I wasn't sure if i de-activated it in the end...I was still hoping that THE sms would be sent to my bf and sis. I preset their numbers! FINALLY at 7plus on sunday nite, we got an sms! Imagine my excitement! We had just ordered dinner! haha...we almost abandoned the order and headed straight to the police station! We decided not to, since there isn't much hurry now that we know I have activated the feature! ;þ
At the police station, we spent quite a long time, trying to explain the feature to the officer over the counter! It was a relatively new thing. and perhaps samsung phones are seldom lost/stolen... so they weren't familiar with the feature! Also, found out that even the police would advise us to try to call the number and ask the person to return the phone, instead of going through the police and logging a report. After the conversation with the officer, I started to understand the reasons. The process is less troublesome, and the person wouldn't have a police record against him/her. BUT we kept telling him that we are afriad that even if we called, the person might not want to return the phone! Or worse, got frightened and threw the phone into a dustbin or smtg! :( After much frustrated conversation with him, we obliged and called...
The person hung up after knowing wat we were asking for. AND off the phones. :( In the end, got help from another higher-ranked officer... BUT I think what they could do was quite minimal too. They just called those numbers that we supplied to them and tried to persuade the user to return the phone to the police station. All I could do was to believe that I will get back my phone!
I must say the Investigation Officer (IO) was really nice and helpful! I sort of tink that the police isn't obliged to help me recover my phone since it was a lost one, not stolen.. :( He also gave his handphone number, so I could check back with him if I had any queries! That's how nice he is. Maybe cuz he is young, still very energetic!
The next day, he called me at around 3plus pm! He has gotten my hp back! Is that efficient or WHAT! I couldn't make it to the station cuz I was on course. I finally got back my phone Yesterday evening...
Asked about what happened to the phone but it was juz some cock and bull story, not worth writing here. I just wanna say the this IO, his name is Patrick Lim, is really quite outstanding. Very nice and helpful.
Glad that I got my phone back, although without all the contacts. Contact list was deleted. SO friends, those who read this blog, please help by leaving your number here so I can contact u in future!
Somehow, I think I am a lucky girl! phone lost and recovered.... :) Not many people has such gd fortune and to meet such a helpful officer...
Counting my blessings and thanking my lucky stars! =þ

I think your phone has an anti-theft device, and that helped too.
You may make the IO's day by writing a short letter of commendation to his station. ;)
By the way, in case you wonder how I wandered to your blog, I blog-hopped from Goldilock's blog.
